Learning Tower

Since before Liam was born, I'd seen the Learning Tower on different blogs.  Two that I remember specifically, but I'm sure I'd seen it on others.  I knew I wanted to get one for him (and future children), but they can be a bit pricy.  I was willing to spend the money, but not really wanting to, if you know what I mean.

Then I remembered craigslist.  Some brilliant guy, probably named Craig, had an idea to create an online classified ad web site.  I found several Learning Towers in our area, most priced in the $100 – 150 range.  That wasn't too bad, but I found one that was closer to where we lived for only $50.  Since Jordan doesn't work during the day, I sent him off to investigate and he picked it up yesterday.  Yeah for thrifting from my couch!

It's used, so not in perfect condition, but not bad, either.  I'm sure it would get used (and loved) in our house fairly quickly.  The previous owners outfitted it with casters to push it around easier.  I'm not sure that's the safest thing, so we're debating taking them off.  The casters make it about 3-4 inches taller, too.

We put Liam in it last night.  Right away, he was all smiles because he could be up at the counter with the big people.  I let him play with some play dough for a while on the counter.  He loved it when we pushed his hand into it and it made a hand print. So magical.  He still eats it, though.  It's homemade, so I'm not too worried, but it does have food coloring that seems to rub off when wet.  Maybe I need to use a different type of food coloring?

When I was making a salad for dinner, I stood right next to him and grated the cheese and carrots and chopped the cucumber, feeding him small bits to keep him entertained.  It was much better than letting him wander around the kitchen and house, emptying cabinets and drawers and making a mess.  He was contained.

I see a future kitchen helper in our midst.
