Laundry Detergent

I've had a love / hate relationship with laundry detergent.  The good stuff is really expensive.  The average stuff isn't as gentle on clothes or skin.  I have never found something that I just love.

So, I decided to make my own detergent, using this recipe (the photo above is missing one ingredient).  It was quite simple to make, took less than 20 minutes.  

I've used it on a couple of loads already (waiting to use up the rest of the other stuff before I use it regularly).  Overall, I like it.  I think I need to change the ratio of the Fels-Naptha bar soap, though.  It's a bit too pungent.  I made add some more of the other ingredients until I find something that works.  For now, we have cheap, clean laundry detergent.  Time will tell if it becomes a favorite or not.
